1 November 2009 - Medicare Benefit Schedule (MBS) Fees

HCN is pleased to announce the release of the 1 November 2009 Medicare Benefit Schedule (MBS) fee update for PracSoft 3.1.2 and above.

Please note: The fee update should not be applied before 1 November 2009.

MD/PS 3.11.1 Update

Description:

This update contains enhancements, modifications and fixes to Medical Director/ Pracsoft 3.11.0 (March 2010 CDROM).

MD/PS 3.11.1 Release Notes

In this Update:

Medical Director:
  • ePrescribing - number of repeats calculation fixed.
PracSoft
  • Update to most recent version of the PKI certificate manager (Medicare Australia).
  • PracSoft now remembers the last payment type used for a given patient.

Notes:

  1. This update is intended ONLY as an update for MD/PS version 3.11. If you are in doubt or have any questions, please contact HCN Technical Support on 1300 788 802.
  2. This update will also be delivered via the HCN Automatic Update, HCN's Internet based update delivery mechanism which was installed with MD-PS 3.10 and later. Click HERE for instructions on how to use the HCN Automatic Update (HAU).
  3. After successful installation of this update you will see the version number displayed in Medical Director's title bar (which should now be labeled 'Medical Director 3.11.1').

Instructions:

  1. Click on the download link in the above table (blue).
  2. When prompted, select the option to 'Save' the update file to your computer. Do NOT select the option to 'Run' the file at this time.
  3. Select a location on your computer to save and download the update when ready.
  4. Close Medical Director, PracSoft and the Appointment Book on all computers.
  5. Perform this update on the Server first, then on each workstation.
  6. Navigate to the location where you downloaded the update, and double-click on it to initiate the installation.
  7. The Update Installation Wizard opens. If prompted (depending on your computer's security settings), click the 'Run' button to commence the installation. The installation proceeds automatically.
  8. When complete, the Installation Wizard will close automatically.

  1. This update performs a schema update and so depending on the size of your database may take approximately 1 hour to complete. Please plan for this.
  2. This update is intended ONLY as an update for MD/PS version 3.9 (it can also be applied over 3.9.1 - released only to selected Beta sites). If you are in doubt or have any questions, please contact HCN Technical Support on 1300 788 802.

25/05/2009 - PKI Certificate Update to be completed by 31st May 2009

PKI technology is used in PracSoft3 for secure transmission of Bulk Bill and Private invoices to Medicare.

HCN is pleased to provide PracSoft customers with the latest version of the PKI Manager. This is identical to that which is available from the Medicare Australia web site. It is provided here for your convenience and, once installed, will assist you to update the Medicare Australia PKI certificate to the very latest and current version.

Instructions to Renew PKI Certificates

  1. The link below provides detailed instructions for updating the Medicare Australia PKI Certificate. It is recommended that you download this document (Adobe PDF format) and print it for reference.
  2. After reading the instructions you will find that you need to download the latest PKI Certificate Manager Installer.
  3. Staff must close PracSoft (and Medical Director if also using PKI) when you perform the instructions, which should normally be run on the server.
